Positive Parenting
As well as bringing us joy, children can pose a challenge which can leave parents feeling exhausted, exasperated and desperate.
Understanding your own legacy goes a long way to making a better one for our children.
Parenting is a lifelong journey, that’s for sure. Sometimes on the journey, your children break your heart, fill you with overwhelming love and just sometimes bring you to the point of despair – all in the same day!
Every parent works towards the same goal – to help nurture a child into a balanced, happy, loving young adult who is ready and equipped to take on the challenges of living and thriving in our complex, modern world. That’s all you need to do. Easy, right? Not on your life!

Nightingale Parenting Consultants
Our Parenting Consultant is a counsellor with a special interest in parenting and, of course, is a parent herself. The aim of our parenting service is to give you space to talk about the challenges you are facing. The counsellor will then use her expertise in this area to help you to find the best route forward.
Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” approach, however, there is always something that can be done to make things better and families happier and calmer. By having this space to talk, our clients can really put things into perspective and get some clarity on the situation.
Our counsellor’s knowledge is invaluable, as the service often provides clients with that missing piece of information that suddenly makes things clearer. We call it the ‘Aha moment’. From there, you can work together on a parenting programme, over 6 sessions, that will bring about real change and get you back to parenting more effectively.
Young adult
One-to-one counselling is offered from age 13 and onwards. The first session is usually between the Young Adult Counsellor and the parents of the young adult. This gives the parents the opportunity to talk about any issues they believe their son or daughter may be facing. This is also an opportunity for the parents to meet the counsellor that their loved one will be working with.
Post natal depression
More than 1 in every 10 women get affected by postnatal depression within a year of giving birth. It is a serious mental health problem that can have a significant impact on the mother/father, baby and family. It is very important to get help as soon as possible if you think you might be depressed. If you are having difficulty bonding with your baby, get in touch with us sooner rather than later.
Dafina has a warmth that makes you feel comfortable in the sessions, encouraging you to lead them in whatever direction you want to. She also challenges you to tackle difficult things. She gives useful insight and she has changed how I view my life.
Online Counselling
Providing you with the tools you need to take the next step.
Technology is rapidly changing the ways we can interact with each other, and counselling is no exception. This
service can be provided upon request. For the below options you will need broadband/internet connection and
somewhere quiet and private you can speak without being overheard or interrupted. Your Counsellor will agree with
you what happens should the technology fail, but in all other respects the counselling relationship will be the same
as a ‘face to face’ one. The Counsellor will speak to you from a private room …
Phone Counselling
The service will connect you with the counsellor on your mobile phone. Sessions for telephone counselling are between 30 minutes to an hour.
ZOOM Counselling
‘Zoom’ requires you to download the ‘Zoom’ application and set up an account. You will also need a PC, laptop, or smartphone with a webcam.
FACETIME Counselling
To access counselling through ‘FaceTime’ you will need a device with the ‘FaceTime’ App installed (such as an Apple Mac, MacBook, or IPad).
Microsoft Teams
We can also use Microsoft Teams to host appointments. Similar to Zoom, you need to download the Microsoft Teams app to your computer, laptop, or smartphone.
