Initial Assessment Session
An opportunity to assess your needs and wants.

After you contact us and decide you want to book an appointment for couple counselling we will invite you for an initial assessment session as soon as possible. During the assessment we will gather the relevant information to ensure your couple counselling experience is effective and that the couple counsellor has all the information needed to structure the sessions for you.
The assessment will take place online or in our consulting room near Charing cross. This is a first session and thus it is chargeable.
Nightingale Marriage Counselling was built on the belief that every couple should receive the highest standard of support possible from a dedicated professional with the expertise to work with their specific couple issues.
We believe that counselling helps our clients achieve a deeper level of understanding on how to move forward, communicate better for sure, increase individual self-awareness and experience life changing and tangible benefits, which will stay with them and serve them well in the future of the relationship.
During your assessment session we will ask you lots of questions to:
- Establish an overall view of your relationship and the challenges that have brought you to us
- Examine what you want to achieve with your counselling
- Explore the reasons why you individually feel that your relationship is no longer working
- Method and timing of the sessions
- Suitability for couple counselling at this stage
- Allow you to get a feel for working together
- Encourage you to ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have about the couple’s counselling process
- Help the couple counsellor to build the support plan which may include directed reading, worksheets and work to do at home between sessions.
- Discuss the practicalities of your counselling journey, including the number and length of the sessions you will require and your availability.

What our clients are saying…
Online Counselling
Providing you with the tools you need to take the next step.
Technology is rapidly changing the ways we can interact with each other, and counselling is no exception. This
service can be provided upon request. For the below options you will need broadband/internet connection and
somewhere quiet and private you can speak without being overheard or interrupted. Your Counsellor will agree with
you what happens should the technology fail, but in all other respects the counselling relationship will be the same
as a ‘face to face’ one. The Counsellor will speak to you from a private room …
Phone Counselling
The service will connect you with the counsellor on your mobile phone. Sessions for telephone counselling are between 30 minutes to an hour.
ZOOM Counselling
‘Zoom’ requires you to download the ‘Zoom’ application and set up an account. You will also need a PC, laptop, or smartphone with a webcam.
FACETIME Counselling
To access counselling through ‘FaceTime’ you will need a device with the ‘FaceTime’ App installed (such as an Apple Mac, MacBook, or IPad).
Microsoft Teams
We can also use Microsoft Teams to host appointments. Similar to Zoom, you need to download the Microsoft Teams app to your computer, laptop, or smartphone.
